| BLACK ISLE YARN 2011 |
||
![]()
North of Inverness is the peninsula known for some reason as The Black Isle (it is neither black nor an island). It may have earned its name through its association with witchcraft and the black arts in mediaeval times, or to the more mundane, that the soil there is very black. Jen’s sister gets to look out on The Black Isle every day when she walks on the beach at the Moray Firth. This yarn just shines!

HIGHLAND REVOAN 2010 People in Scotland name
their homes, and the names can be adopted by the new owners. Jen’s great grandfather was a game keeper in
the Highlands and lived in a small croft (a
traditional dwelling for small farmers) named Revoan. Jen’s home in Edinburgh was also called
Revoan. We named a cria out of our white
foundation female in honor of this tradition.
Between the two of them they have produced several white offspring and
have provided the core of our light colored fleece production.100% alpaca 200 yards/3 ply |
HIGHLAND HEATHER ROOTS 2010
Visitors
to Scotland
often bring home jewelry made from a cross cut of heather roots. The interesting color mix makes each piece of
jewelry a unique item. This baby alpaca
yarn is a mixture of the first fleeces of our gray and brown cria. It creates a unique rustic impression.

THE RIVER SPEY 2010
The River Spey is the fastest flowing river in Scotland and the only river with fresh water pearls. Pearl fisherman stayed at Jen’s grandmother’s farm in the Highlands during the summer months to harvest those valuable pearls. A brooch or other piece of jewelry containing a Spey pearl is quite unique. The addition of tencel gives a pearly sheen to this luxurious yarn. 80% alpaca/20% tencel 200yards/3 ply |
HIGHLAND GLAYVA 2010 You may have heard of the popular Scottish liqueur Drambuie. The history behind it has Bonnie Prince Charlie giving the McKinnon family the recipe in appreciation for saving his butt during the Jacobite rebellion. Years later, a young son in the McKinnon family, Allistair McKinnon, broke away to produce his own liqueur and named it Glayva. Jen's Aunt Jess was engaged to Allistair for several years before he died. Glayva is still a highly prized liqueur in Scotland with a very secret recipe. 100% alpaca 200 yards/3 ply |

DOUBLE CLOTTED CREAM 2010![]() Fresh cream and clotted cream are a staple in the Scottish cuisine. The Scots have no appreciation of “whipped cream in a can”. Their clotted cream is rich and natural...like this beautiful cream colored yarn. This yarn is similar to our Highland Clotted Cream 2010, but we’ve added a fine Merino wool to make a blend that is both soft and durable.
